The National Council against Smoking was established in 1976. It is registered as a Section 21 Not for Profit Organisation with the Department of Social Development and is authorised to collect contributions in the Republic of South Africa.
The NCAS’s mandate is to improve public health by promoting non-smoking and cessation.
Our goals are:
- PREVENTION- to encourage non-smokers, especially children, to stay tobacco free.
- PROTECTION- to protect the health and rights of non-smokers.
- CESSATION- to encourage and help smokers to stop smoking and stop using tobacco in all forms.
The NCAS promotes education, legislation, treatment, and research to achieve these aims.
