National Council Against Smoking calls for a reduction of smoking impressions in movies
According to a study by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention in the US, tobacco use impressions or suggestions of smoking in movies have risen by 72% from 2010 to last year. According to Savera Kalideen, executive director of the National Council Against Smoking, smoking in movies "normalises' smoking behaviour to young people. In addition, by seeing people smoke in movies, teenagers aspire to "imitate to action packed lifestyles of the stars".
