NCAS Shares its Tobacco Control Journey at the CTFK Policy Analysis and Development Webinar
During a webinar organized by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, NCAS discussed its contributions in shaping and advocating for South Africa's tobacco control policies. NCAS emphasized its involvement in policy engagements, participation in public consultations, and in provision of legal assistance.
Additionally, NCAS underscored the importance of collaboration in South Africa's tobacco control efforts, highlighting the contributions of the Tobacco Control Advocacy Alliance and the Protect Our Next Campaign in advocating for the country's tobacco control legislation.
The CTFK team provided webinar attendees with insights into the resources available through the International Legal Consortium (ILC) at CTFK, which are valuable for conducting comparative reviews of legislation and supporting litigation efforts. See the Tobacco Control Laws Website HERE.
NCAS Participates in Training Course on Tobacco Industry Monitoring in Abidjan,
Cote d’Ivoire
The National Council Against Smoking (NCAS) participated in a weeklong capacity-building training course hosted by the African Centre for Tobacco Industry Monitoring and Policy Research (ATIM), in collaboration with the African Capacity Building Foundation (ABCF). The event took place from June 10th to 14th in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
This course equipped African tobacco control stakeholders with essential skills in monitoring and countering the tobacco industry across the continent. Key topics included analyzing industry documents, leveraging legal strategies, and integrating monitoring into effective policy advocacy.
NCAS was represented by its Advocacy and Policy Officer.
